About

M. Turner McCabe (hey/they) (b. 2000) is a multi-faceted artist and graduate student studying music composition at New York University, specializing in not only classical music, but electronic music, performance art, pop music, and many other mediums. Turner is currently studying Music Composition at New York University with Julia Wolfe and has previously studied with Michael Gordon and Shelley Washington, along with percussion studies with Andrew Bliss and Eric Retterer through the University of Tennessee.

Being a queer individual from the Appalachian region of East Tennessee, Turner’s work has always been influenced by a culture of community and togetherness. His work has been described as fun and dirty while also thoughtful and emotionally impactful. Turner also takes a plethora of influence from Gen Z and internet culture, embracing online queer spaces, absurdist glitch culture, and open access to information and music, causing his musical inspirations to range from Philip Glass to Charli XCX.
